Thanks Bette. Love reading your words and wisdom. I think this advice holds true for a few aspects of life where the extremes are not where you want to be but they seem to have the loudest voices. I just read a post from Rich Roll on discernment. Simpatico. Thanks for all you do in this space. Anita xx

Thanks Anita! I so appreciate the kind words. The majority of us actually are in the middle, but you sure wouldn't know it with what gets the most attention. Critical thinking and discernment - those are words so many just don't understand how to develop anymore.

If only everyone could fall somewhere between luddite and miracle technology when it comes to AI. You nailed it, Bette - many of the folks using AI in practice, but understand its current limitations don't often post about it. They have their heads down because they're building or creating.

The folks that want to sell courses or sleazy AI products, or protect their competitive moat from anything AI, are often the loudest voices. Fear sells online and it's great for engagement.

Love what you're doing to promote a reasonable middle ground that's realistic, honest, and optimistic about our AI future.

Thanks John - truly appreciate it. The middle voices are the more reasonable ones but man it’s so hard to compete with the extremes. I saw your one post about the evolution of your substack pub. I knew you were a lawyer, but didn’t realize you worked on wall street -that was prob a bit on the stressful side. I read you’re a stay at home dad, so that explains why you’re so close with your son in your posts - that’s so awesome.

Extreme positions are easier because they give you a simple framework.

Everything is either revolutionary or terrible. The middle ground requires evaluation, testing, and adjustment. You have to actually learn how the tools work, understand their limitations, and figure out where they fit in your specific context. It's much harder than just picking Team Hype or Team Doom and then filtering all new information through that lens. But it's also where progress happens - Didn't you hear Bette? Nuance is dead, "rolls eyes."

Happy Wednesday to you...

So true. It’s not always easy to work in the middle ground. Thanks for weighing in!

Yes; ignore the loudest voices at the extremes.

This brings to mind product reviews. Most people aren’t posting. They’re just using the product. The ones that do are really impressed or disappointed. Or they have an agenda.

That’s true. And now it’s even hard to trust product reviews with how they can easily fake them in bulk.
